Introduction: This will be one of the most comprehensive southern forestry conferences with concurring sessions for landowners, investors and professionals. In support of the Four-State Conference, the Magnolia Forestry Conference has joined in with RC&D in hopes of seeing you in southeast Oklahoma again. The presentations, education and networking directly benefit landowners, investors and professionals with timberland holdings from Texas to the Carolinas in the pine belt states. Last year, over 220 landowners, professionals, and investors from 12 states attended the conference representing over 3 million timberland acres.

Conference History:

Four-State Forestry on the Grow Conference, formerly known as the Tri-State Forestry on the Grow Conference!  The Four-State Forestry Conference highlights today’s forestry practices with leading forestry experts and professionals.  For the past 15 years the conference has been hosted in Wagoner and Idabel, OK, and once again is back in Idabel.  The conference targets topics of interest to timberland landowners in the Four-State Region of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana; along with benefits for landowners in the entire pine belt from Texas to the Carolinas.

 The conference is proudly presented by the Ouachita Mountains Resource, Conservation, and Development Council in conjunction with a team of dedicated professionals and generous sponsors.  The Magnolia Conference has joined with us once again. The purpose of the conference is to share information among those currently involved in forest management, industry, and investment, as well as those considering opportunities in this important economic sector.

MARK W. THOMAS, ACF, CWB, Certified Wildlife Biologist & Forester

Mark Thomas is a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters (ACF), and is a Certified Wildlife Biologist through The Wildlife Society (TWS).  He has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management and Conservation Education from Missouri State University - Springfield, and a Master of Science Degree in Forestry from the University of Missouri - Columbia.  He won the 2001 Presidential Field Forester Award from the Society of American Foresters.   

He is a noted author with over 100 scientific publications.  He is a lead outdoor writer for Quality Whitetails, Alabama Wildlife, Hunt Club Digest, and is the past Wildlife Management Editor of Hunting Camp Journal.  He is a voting member of the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) and the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA).  As a degreed and Certified Wildlife Biologist, he is a member of and is active in the National Wild Turkey Federation, Quality Deer Management Association (Chairman – National Board of Directors – 10 Year Member – Assume Chair 2009-2011), the British Deer Society, Quail Unlimited, Izaak Walton League, National Rifle Association (Life Member), The Wildlife Society, the National Wildlife Control Operators Association, Grand Slam/Ovis, Dallas Safari Club, and Safari Club International.  He is also a member of and is active in the Society of American Foresters, Association of Consulting Foresters, American Forest Foundation, Alabama Forestry Association, Georgia Forestry Association, and the Alabama Forest Owners Association.  He recently served on two committees with the American Forest & Paper Association (Landowner Assistance Program Committee and Wildlife Committee) and is a past member of the Editorial Board of the Alabama Wildlife Federation. 

He presents over 85 seminars and symposiums annually pertaining to forest and wildlife habitat management.  He works closely with private industrial forestry companies in the United States, State and Federal foresters, consulting foresters, hunting preserves, wildlife habitat managers, institutional foresters, trust officers, timber management companies, pension fund managers, nontraditional forestland owners, and nonindustrial private forest landowners.  He has investigated over 500 alleged herbicide damage claims during his career.   

Mr. Thomas is President of a forest and wildlife management firm called FORESTRY/WILDLIFE INTEGRATION, LLC.  Services offered include Wildlife Management, Quality Deer Management, Quail Management, Recreational Property Development, Endangered Species Management, Forest Management, Seminars & Symposiums, Expert Witness Testimony (Hunting Accidents), Watershed Management, Riparian Zone Enhancement, Delineation of Federal Jurisdictional Wetlands, Wetland Mitigation Banking, Ecosystem Restoration, Non-Native Plant Eradication, and Hunting Guiding/Outfitting trips to Alaska, Russia, Quetico Provincial Park (Canada), United States, and Newfoundland, sea duck hunts in Maine, goose hunts in Texas, and waterfowl hunts in Mexico.  He likes canoeing, kayaking, camping, fishing, hunting and gardening.  He is a husband (Vikki), father (Abby, Brooke) and grandfather (Jacob, Sam, Drew) or Chitlin’, Cracklin’, and Fat Back, as they are affectionately known.
