Forestry Consulting (RFC) is a Silviculture based timber management
company. Silviculture is to timber as agronomy is to
row-crops. RFC's office is located in Southwest Arkansas: 2315 N.
Vine Magnolia, Arkansas. RFC's primary focus is the
dissemination of forest related knowledge to private landowners.
RFC's mission is: "to provide the highest composite rate of return
for all its managed timberlands, while exercising good stewardship" and
"to create awareness and accountability."
Properly
managed timberland has the rate of return of a high risk mutual fund, while
exhibiting the stability of a treasury bill. Where soil conditions are
optimal and proper Silviculture is applied, intensively managed Loblolly Pine
timberlands provide an annual 8% compounding rate of return (and greater) after
all costs (before appreciation and inflation). When carefully
managed, a Loblolly Pine plantation can produce seven tons/acre/year (and
greater). That interprets to a prorated $190/acre/year yield (and greater)
over the life of the stand.
The southern pine belt, considered optimum for growing pine, spans from
Southeast Oklahoma to North Carolina. Over the years, pine mills have strategically
located themselves across this expanse of timberlands, providing a window, for us all, to
the world timber market. Our southern pine belt provides the largest
"sustained" timber supply to the world market.
